BOBBY SOTO

Bobby Soto, drummer for The Dynamics, Western Nebraska's first inductee into The Nebraska Music Hall of Fame, passed away on September 6, 2000.  Bobby, the Dynamics drummer from 1963 to present,  had been in ill health for a number of years.  However, until recently Bobby still performed with The Dynamics and ran sound for the band.

Bobby's older brother, Larry Soto was instrumental in forming The Dynamics in Scottsbluff-Gering, NE in 1961.  The Dynamics have the distinction of being Nebraska's most enduring rock band, performing almost continually for 39 years throughout the Midwest.  Larry Soto still fronts this popular band that continues to draw huge crowds in Western Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado.

From 1961 through about 1966 the band featured Randy Meisner - known for his later work with Poco, Linda Ronstadt, Rick Nelson & The Stone Canyon Band, and National Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, The Eagles.

Although in very ill health, Bobby Soto attended the induction of The Dynamics in Mitchell, NE on August 19, 2000.  He had the opportunity to run sound for his beloved band one last time and also meet with many of the 30 members of The Dynamics that were presented either plaques or certificates of induction.  Bobby was all smiles running the board that night and played "air drums" to perfection on every song his band performed.    A highlight
of the evening was the entire 1963 version of the band (Larry Soto, Randy Meisner, Paul Asmus and Bobby Soto) performing for the first time together in many years - with Bobby looking on with pride.  Upon presentation of his Hall of Fame plaque, he drew a standing ovation from the crowd of over 1000 that attended this function.

Fans throughout the entire Midwest will miss this fine
individual and musician.
